The nasal canal provides a link to the brain. In Nasya Therapy, this channel is utilized to deliver a combination of medicated oils, powders and herbal extracts for curing a number of neck-and- head-related ailments such as sinus, throat and eye infections, migraine and gout.

Nasya treatments are sub-divided on the basis of the form and dosage-strength of the medicine administered. For example, honey, ghee and oils are used in Virechana Nasya whereas churnam (powder) is preferred for Dhmana Nasya. There are specialized Nasya treatments for revitalization and immediate relief action. Body constitution and dosha composition are important considerations in the choice of Nasya treatment.
